How early in growing can you tell if your plants are male or female. At its earliest stage in growth how can you tell?

Pretty much as soon as they show a pre-flower (if they do.) I have grow out plants that showed female, and became a male, and visa versa. But that is uncommon. No worries, because you will have plenty of time to determine their sex before their is any chance of pollination of your females. If you are not certain, just give them a few more days....it will become obvious.
