This year ‘2024’ I have decided to grow D’Qar a mostly Indica cross from 420seedguys, up at my off grid property.

I tend to grow Indicas because most have a shorter growing season, and I am hoping they will have time to finish.
The plants were very thirsty when I got up there after a couple of weeks.
They are growing well however and putting on some size.
One awesome thing about growing and producing cannabis seeds, rather then bud is….the plants do not need to get huge, nor is it an issue if they have a bit of trouble in life.
This will not change the genetics of the plant, and if they retain an ounce of strength they will always produce viable seed….the plants one main purpose in it’s life.

Another awesome thing about producing seed is I do not have to have many plants, I simply need a male, and a female.
I have wondered how cannabis would grow up there in the fairly short summers, and I have not been disappointed! The Granddaddy Purple grew awesomely last year, and the D’Qar seems to be doing the same this year.
The D’Qar is a very bushy plant, and is obviously Indica dominate as well. It seems to be very robust, and sturdy, and easy to grow.
Last time I was up there, I was working on getting water going, and not paying much attention to my two labs that are always with me. They really seem to like to dig holes, especially where I have watered.
I looked around to see what they were up to, and to my chagrin they were both shoulder deep in holes they were digging right at the D’Qar cannabis plants. The had dug holes right next to the plants nearly 2 feet deep!
NOOOO! Stop! I was a bit too late for two of the plants, but most were still upright, even though their roots were being exposed. I quickly filled their holes in watered the plants in again, and piled some brush around the plants to keep the dogs away.
I was pleasantly surprised that the plants came back well, and showed little stress from the digging dogs.
Unfortunately my drip irrigation is not working well at the far ends of the run, and that is where the D’Qar plants are located. I will need to go back up sooner next time, and alleviate that problem.
I will be doing a write up about this trip to my property on my permaculture page as well so watch for that. I am going to start a new gig, that I am kinda excited about, and will share there.
8/1/24…Update…The D’qar has been suffering a bit from lack of water. The drip irrigation has been working less well every year. I think I will have to change it up a bit in the future.
That being said, I am keeping them alive, and they will likely produce some awesome seed. Here are some updated images of the plants…the first is when I just got there, and they were suffering a bit, the second after they had a good drink and are hydrated.

The plant is very bushy, Indica looking plant. Not too tall, with limited side branching. I expect a big central bud, and limited side buds…pretty much the way many Indica plants grow.
The only real question at this point is…will they have time to finish maturing their seeds up in the mountains?? Time will tell, and I will do an update to let you know.
On a side note, that pup is Lexie one of my two white labs that both look like yellow labs now. Lexie is the daughter of my other lab Emma. My Granddaughter named Emma, and my Grandson named Lexie.
I could not ask for better ‘Buds’ to hang with!
Just returned from a trip up to my property…9/14/24.

I finally have the water pretty much dialed in, and the D’Qar cannabis is getting enough.
D’Qar is a very vigorous and strong plant.
There are 3 males, and all the plants look just alike, so the strain is obviously stable, and for that reason I left all 3 males to do their thing with the 3 ladies. (One huge female and 2 smaller ones.)
When you grow plants for seed you get used to choosing the best males. as well as the best females. And, it is safe to say not all cannabis plants are created equal, some are subpar, some are average, and some are stand outs!
I would call this male in the image a beautiful standout, and will pass on some awesome genes.
I can see some of the bottom seeds (the very first flowers seeded) are maturing nicely. With another month to go I am hoping the rest will mature as well, although, that may be a little iffy….as the plant is still actively blooming. You can see the withering of the hairs of the cannabis flower, this is both a sign of pollination, and can also be a sign of cooler weather. I think in this case it is from pollination.

Once I move there I will have the ability to start some cannabis seeds in the late summer in my geo-thermally heated greenhouse….that I hope to have built before spring. Then even with the shorter season, most cannabis will have time to finish outdoors.
The D’Qar is maturing, as we approach the end of the season….10/5/24
There ended up being just two females, and the rest were males. One of the females id a beast, the other not so much…due to be crowed I think. Here are a few images of the plants as they look today…

Fantastic plants. That male is awesome. Are you posting pics of the just b4 harvest plants?
That last image is not long before harvest BB. You can see the spent males next to them. I kinda have to just take them when it started to get close to first frost up there, as I am not there very often.
I harvested some awesome seeds from them!
