Weed Butter, Marijuana Butter, Cannabis Butter, or CannaButter….Made Easy With This Recipe
Cannabutter is the easiest way to cook with cannabis. Making your own weed butter on your stove-top is easy, and the cannabutter can be used in all kinds of foods. Marijuana edibles can be the best way to treat oneself with this life saving medicine.
- Step 1
Start with about 1/4 oz of good cannabis bud. First you want to grind the herb using a hand grinder, does not need to be super fine.
- Step 2
Combine one pound (4 sticks) of butter and 2 cups water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a low simmer over medium heat. When the butter begins to melt, add your ground cannabis.
- Step 3
Now, reduce the heat to low and cook the butter gently, stirring occasionally and maintaining a temperature of between 200? and 250?F (you can use a candy thermometer), until the top layer in the saucepan changes from watery to glossy and thick. This will take about 2-3 hours?you will likely need to add water, if you run out the butter can get scorched.
- Step 4
Place a sieve over a large enough bowl (preferably a glass bowl) then line the sieve with cheesecloth. Pour the butter cannabis mixture into the sieve and let it sit until all of the butter has been filtered. Wrap the edges of the cheesecloth over the herb and press the solids to extract all of the butter. Cover the bowl tightly and refrigerate the strained butter for at least 3 hours or overnight.
- Step 5
The next morning, you simply lift out the solid block of butter, discarding any liquid remaining in the bowl. Using a paper towel pat the surface of the butter to absorb any moisture. Wrap the butter in plastic wrap then store it in an airtight container in your refrigerator for up to 2 months or in the freezer for up to 6 months.
The cannabutter should contain about 5 MG of THC per 1 teaspoon serving. You can now add the weedbutter to any recipe to enjoy its medicinal properties.
