Why Real Breeders Still Demand Regular Weed Seeds

Are Regular Seeds Better Then Feminized?
If you listen to the big corporate seed banks, they’ll tell you that Feminized seeds are the “future.” They want you to think that males are a “nuisance” to be avoided.
But if you’ve been at this for 50 years like I have, you know that’s a detrimental way of thinking. If you want true genetic vigor, you want regular weed seeds. Period.
Feminized cannabis seeds have their place for that maleless backyard grow, but they are a genetic dead end. You can’t breed with them effectively, and in my way of thinking you lose the “soul” of the plant in the chemical reversal process.
It’s imperative that we maintain the male lines. The male provides the structure, the pest resistance, and the “backbone” of the offspring….basically 50% of the genetic makeup of the offspring. Without the boys, you’re just making copies of copies….and these ‘copies’ weaken genetically over time.
The Ghost approved of regular seeds for two major reasons: Selection.…and Breeding…. When you pop a pack of regular cannabis seeds, you get to see the full spectrum of what that strain can produce. And for what it is worth…fems, and even autos are actually a relatively new thing.
You find the strongest female and the most “stink-heavy”…large, and impressive male, and suddenly, you aren’t just a grower—you’re a breeder. You’re creating something 100% new, a ‘strain’ that has never been seen before.
It is not difficult to learn how to sex your plants early. Don’t be afraid of a male; embrace the opportunity to make your own seeds for next year, or cull him days before he releases his pollen for the ladies.
At Just Cannabis Seed, we specialize in these pure, unfiltered lines because we believe the grower should have the power, not the seed company. I encourage customers seed grows. I am about much more the simply separating you from your money. Don’t settle for a “one-and-done” garden. Get back to the basics.
The Ghost Tip: To identify males early, look for the “spade” shape at the nodes around week 2 of the 12/12 flip (or even late in veg). If it looks like a tiny crab claw or a spade, it’s a boy. If it has two white hairs (pistils), it’s a girl. It’s not clandestine—it’s just biology.
