My Permaculture Food Forest Early Spring, I just got home from a day of work up at my remote mountain property near Goldendale WA.

It was a beautiful sunny day there, and about 75 degrees, the perfect day to be there. Spring still has not completely sprung up there yet, but leaves are starting to show, and flowers are taking advantage of the spring weather.
I was installing drip irrigation on all the trees and plants I have added recently. I was not sure how the drip would work out, but was pleased that it works perfectly, even on just the 10 lbs of pressure from the gravity water from the tank on top of the hill.
And water goes a long way with drip, so even though my tank on the hill is only 400 gals, it will run alot of drip irrigation. I am using 1/4 inch line with a .5 gal per hour dripper every foot. And I have doubled it so it is effectively giving 1 gal per foot per hour.
I have also came across a new tank I will be installing up there soon. With many more improvements to come.
Here are some images of my time there.
I had 3 ponds dug when I first bought this property many years ago, and they are all full in the spring.

Some of the wildflowers are beginning to bloom, as well as some of the things I have planted on My Permaculture Food Forest Early Spring.

I have found my favorite way to propagate certain trees and shrubs. I simply take a long bar, and ram a hole all the way to bedrock in the moist spring soil. Some of the holes are about 4 feet deep! I then I stick a long hardwood cutting in all the way to the bottom. I am watering this area overhead, and I fully expect most of these cuttings to take. Here is a few images of this experiment….

It looks like most of the things I have planted will live, some I am sure will thrive, and some may not. I am not going to baby these plants much, although they will get food (I had the soil tested and all it lacks is nitrogen) and water. The strong will survive, those that find it difficult there may not.
At this point I am all about diversity, I will be adding hundreds of plants every year, and we can all watch my food forest take shape together, thank you all for giving me the ability to begin to reach this life long goal!
I will be taking my new water tank up soon, and will update again then…. Until then check out our Cannabis seeds at Justcannabisseed.com or buy in bulk at bulweedseed.com
