The Ultimate Ghost Ride: Using My Camper for Heavy Extraction

Jerry hauled cannabis in this truck.

That is the ultimate “Ghost” setup. A camper isn’t just a vehicle; it’s a mobile base of operations for a guerrilla grower. To a passerby or a ranger, you’re just a retiree or a traveler enjoying the great outdoors. They don’t realize you have a high-altitude, scent-proof vault sitting 12 feet above their heads.

Let’s turn that veteran setup into a post about “Deep Stealth” transport.

Fly Under the Radar With a Truck Camper Setup

Jerry here. Over fifty years, I’ve used every kind of vehicle you can imagine, but my all-time favorite was a beefy 3/4-ton Ford with a Lance camper on the back. While everyone else was trying to hide bags in the trunk of their car, I was living in plain sight.

A truck camper is the ultimate “Ghost” asset. It gives you a reason to be parked anywhere—trailheads, forest service roads, or lake turnouts—for days at a time without raising a single eyebrow. You can easily tow your boat behind it.

No matter where you are parked if you are in the camper it is rare anyone knocks on the door.

The High-Altitude Vault: Scent Control…The Ghost

The secret weapon of my setup wasn’t just the bed inside; it was the enclosed carrier mounted on top of the camper.

The Ghost’s Camper Strategy:

Water bag keeps cannabis smell in
  • The Scent Ceiling: By putting the harvest in an enclosed carrier 10 to 12 feet in the air, you’re using physics to your advantage. Heat rises, and so does scent. It is rare any “skunk” smell drifts down to nose level, and even if it does it is generally well dispersed by then.
  • The “Stay Over” Cover: Because I had a camper, I could “sleep over” near my spots. I wasn’t the guy driving in and out at suspicious hours; I was the guy “camping” there for the weekend. It allowed me to harvest at the butt-crack of dawn and then just sit tight and drink coffee until the coast was clear.
  • The Retirement Plan: My old camper has since been retired up on my property. It still serves as a “Ghost” cabin where I stay to keep an eye on things. It’s a reminder that good equipment—and good secrets—last a lifetime.
  • Double Seal Your Buds: I always stuffed my bud inside a water bag…these are those bags made to take in a boat and designed to keep the contents dry. While they keep things dry, they also give off zero smell from what is inside. There is a small one in the image, you can get them much bigger!

Op-Sec Tip: Even with a camper, don’t get lazy. Keep your gear organized and your “work” hidden behind the curtains. A good steward of the Ghost life knows that the best hiding place is one that no one realizes.

If you’re moving a large harvest, don’t just get a truck. Get a home on wheels and blend into the scenery.
