Vegan Cannabis Oil – Karen’s “Liquid Gold”

Plant based cannabis infused oil for vegan recipes.

“This isn’t just an infusion; it’s the only infusion I use in my kitchen. I call it Liquid Gold because of its beautiful amber glow and the way it elevates every dish it touches.”Karen

The Ingredients for Vegan Cannabis Oil

  • 7–10 grams of high-quality flower
  • 1 cup organic Virgin Coconut Oil
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon sunflower lecithin (helps with absorption/bioavailability)

The Method

1. The “Wake Up” (Decarboxylation)

You can’t skip this! You have to “activate” the THC.

  • Preheat your oven to 115°C (240°F).
  • Break your flower into small pieces (don’t grind it into dust) and spread it on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 40 minutes. Your kitchen will smell amazing, I have always loved this part of the process.

2. The Slow Melt

  • Place your decarbed flower and the coconut oil into a glass mason jar.
  • Tighten the lid, then back it off just a quarter-turn to allow for pressure.

3. The Infusion Bath

  • Place the jar in a pot filled with water (a “water bath”).
  • Simmer on low heat for 3 hours. You want a gentle bubble, not a rolling boil.
  • Karen’s Tip: Keep an eye on the water level; don’t let the pot run dry…I did this just once!

4. The Gold Standard (Straining)

  • Let the oil cool slightly so you don’t burn your hands.
  • Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth into a clean glass jar.
  • Squeeze the cloth gently to get every last drop—this is the Karen’s liquid gold you will use in my recipes..

Storage

Because this is plant-based, it’s incredibly shelf-stable. Keep it in a cool, dark cupboard, and it will stay fresh for months.
