What to do if Your Cannabis/Marijuana Plants are Wilting
I only get up to my off-grid property every 2 weeks or so. And, I have had difficulty getting my drip irrigation to work all the way to the end of a 100 foot run, which resulted in wilting cannabis/marijuana plants!
This means that my well fed, vigorously growing D’Qar cannabis plants could (and have) become water stressed, and have begun to wilt. Here is what I saw when I got up there…

This is never good! They are wilting pretty badly, and even though this may not ultimately be that detrimental to seed production, it definitely will slow the plants down in their growth.
This kind of stress is pretty common with neglected plants, so what to do about wilting cannabis/marijuana plants? The fix of course is to re-hydrate them. Now if you plants look like this and do not seem to respond well to re-hydration, then you likely have a perhaps catastrophic root problem.
Re-hydration is accomplished by simply watering them of course, and you can hasten their recovery by also wetting their leaves…folar feeding them water. There is a belief floating around saying that by doing this you will shock them and cause them additional stress….I say bull pucky.
Think about it, if you are very hot, and very dehydrated, what feels the best to you? How about a big drink of cool water (never ice cold water though) and pour some over your head. That will bring you the fastest relief, and the same holds true for a plant.
The only difference is plants are on a different time schedule then we are, they take longer to react to manipulations then we do. I call it being aware of plant time…which is slower then the way we react to stimuli.
That being said, these plants did begin to respond to the drink I gave them, and the water I applied to their leaves, but did not fully recover till the next day. Here they are then…

Pretty much loving life again, and ready to continue to grow.
I have adjusted the water yet again, and hoping the plants will not be suffering from water stress the next trip up. I also watered them in with about 30 gals of water, given throughout the day. I will let you know what I see next trip up.
On a side note, if you blow the image up a bit can you see the distance between nodes on the stems of the plants? When the distance close to the top of the plants gets closer, and closer, this is a sure indication of the plant going into bloom. Hopefully they have time to finish there.
Another point I can make about these plants is how bushy they are, this tends to be an indication they will produce heavy large flowers.
You may also notice the plants are green all the way to the ground, even the older fan leaves. This is because when I am producing seeds I want to feed a full spectrum fertilizer throughout the plants life…to assure the plants has all the nutrients it needs to produce the bet seeds possible.
Conclusion
Cannabis needs basically 3 things in order for it to thrive…water, food, and sunlight….as do all plants. Supply these things according to the plants needs, and you too will grow awesome cannabis plants!
