Cannabis Infused Beef Jerky: The Ultimate Trail Snack

If you’re out hiking the ridges or spending ten hours on a tractor at Stony Oasis Farms, you need protein, you need cannabis infused jerky.

Sugar-heavy brownies just give you a crash. A regular at the JCS shop—a fella who spends most of his time in the backcountry—sent in this recipe for cannabis infused beef jerky.

It’s rugged, it’s savory, and it’s the best “fuel” I’ve ever come across for a long day in the brush. It’s clandestine medicine for the active man, and is good for you!

He says the secret isn’t in the meat itself, but in the marinade. You don’t just “spray” weed on the jerky. You infuse the liquid that the meat soaks in. It’s imperative to use a lean cut of beef (like eye of round) because fat goes rancid, and we want this stuff to last in a backpack.

A dehydrator I think is the best way to prepare it, but a low-temp oven works if you keep a close eye on it.

The Ghost approved of this jerky because it’s the ultimate “incognito” snack. It looks like gas station jerky, but it carries the power of you favorite strain. Use a heavy Indica like Turkish Hash Plant if you’re using it for “post-hike” recovery, or a Sativa if you need to keep moving.

The Recipe (As submitted by The Backcountry Grower):
Slice: Cut 1 lb of lean beef into thin strips against the grain.
Marinade: Mix soy sauce, Worcestershire, black pepper, and 2 tablespoons of potent cannabis-infused olive oil or tincture.
Soak: Let the meat sit in the fridge in a sealed bag for at least 12 hours.
Dry: Lay the strips on your dehydrator racks. Dry at 160°F for about 6-8 hours.
Test: The jerky should bend and crack, but not snap in half.

The Ghost Tip: This is a “slow-release” edible. Because you’re eating it with protein and fiber, it takes longer to hit, but it stays with you for hours. Endurance medicine for the long haul.
