High Humidity Cannabis Strains….Just Cannabis Seed

Jerry here. If you’re growing in a “swamp” spot or an area where the morning fog rolls in and sits until noon, you are in a constant race against high humidity. High humidity is the perfect breeding ground for bud rot and powdery mildew. In my fifty years of experience, I’ve seen entire harvests turn to grey mush because of bud rot, and have had powdery mildew cover just about whole plants.

When the air is thick enough to chew, you need a plant that was born to breathe in the heat, and the humidity.

Built for the Swamp: Choosing Your “Ghost” Genetics…The Ghost

The short answer is all about geography. If you want to survive the humidity, look to the plants that originated in the tropics.

The Ghost’s Humidity-Proof Breakdown:

  • The Tropical Sativa: Pure Sativas from places like Thailand, Mexico, or Colombia are the undisputed kings of mold resistance. Evolution gave them airy, “loose” bud structures. This allows the wind to blow right through the flower, whisking away moisture. While a 15-foot Sativa giant takes longer to finish, it’s far less likely to rot from the inside out. The Sativa in the image was grown in a greenhouse, and it got literally 140 degrees fahrenheit in there that summer. She was the beginning of my free seed order deal….produced over 150,000 seeds….
  • The “Fast-Track” Auto: Autoflowers are a brilliant tactical choice for humid spots. Because they finish so fast—often in 70 to 90 days—you can time your grow to harvest before the heavy fall rains and humidity spikes hit. If they aren’t in the ground during the “rot season,” they can’t get rot.
  • The Indica Warning: Indicas are the most susceptible. These plants evolved in dry, mountainous regions like Afghanistan. They produce dense, tight “golf ball” buds that act like sponges for moisture. In high humidity, an Indica is a ticking time bomb. If you must grow one, you’ll need to be all about airflow,

Op-Sec Tip: In humid guerrilla grows, your plants will smell stronger and further because the moisture in the air carries the scent molecules. Pick a “low-odor” Sativa hybrid if you’re close to a trail.

Don’t fight Mother Nature—work with her. Pick a strain that likes the sweat, and you’ll be trimming sticky colas while the neighbor is throwing his moldy crop in the trash.
