Jerry here. I’m lining up six different looking fully mature cannabis seeds from our current stock to show you something the “big box” seed banks rarely talk about. If you look at these close-ups, you’ll see a world of variety—deep ebony shells, pale teardrops, and heavy “tiger” mottling. But one theme is consistent, I want to only sell fully mature, and fully viable cannabis seeds!

In my fifty years of growing, I’ve learned that a seed’s “look” tells the story. It tells you about its ancestry, its maturity, and exactly how much energy it has stored up to become a sure to germinate cannabis seed. I have paid good money for cannabis seeds that I could tell…just by looking at them…that they were NOT going to germinate.

When you’re looking at these photos, don’t look for “perfection”—look for maturity, and for the promise of viability.

The Ghost’s Guide to the Gallery:

• The Mottled Giants: See those dark, jagged stripes? That’s “mottling.” It’s a sign of a seed that reached full physiological maturity on the branch. It’s a survivor.
• The Polished Stones: Some seeds look almost waxy or polished. This “sheen” is a protective layer that helps the seed stay viable for those 5–10 years we talked about.
• The Sativa Spheres: Notice how some of the smaller ones are almost perfectly round? Those often come from our tropical landrace lines. They don’t need to be big to be powerful.
• The “Ridge” Detail: Look closely at the “seam” of the seed. A prominent, well-sealed ridge means the embryo inside is tucked in tight and protected from the elements.

The Ghost’s Quality Promise: I choose all the seeds I sell very carefully….and I don’t just look at them; I test them. Whether they are striped or smooth, if they don’t meet my germination standards during our yearly germination tests, they don’t make it into your pack. I want happy satisfied customers 100% of the time!

While all the seeds pictured are fully mature, and ‘ripe’…just because a cannabis seed is slightly immature does not mean it will not sprout. Sometimes mother plants do not have the time to fully mature their seed, but those seeds are still 100% viable.
