Guerrilla Composting Onsite: The No-Turn Guerrilla Method

Composting in a Guerrilla Planting Hole….The Ghost
Jerry (The Ghost) here. If you’ve got a “forever spot”—a secret location you’ve managed to keep hidden for years—you have a massive advantage. You can stop thinking about finding a site for a grow, begin guerrilla composting onsite and turn your forever spot into the ‘perfect site for a grow!’
Standard composting guides tell you to build a pile and turn it every week to keep it aerated. In the world of the Ghost, that is just not going to work out. You can’t be out there turning and caring for your compost. You can also find great compost close to most sites.
Set It and Forget It: The Ghost’s Underground Composting Nutrient Bank
The no-turn method is all about letting time and gravity do the work for you. I’ve used this in my long-term spots for years, and the soil quality just keeps getting better with every harvest. Remember…leave every guerrilla spot better then you found it…work with nature…not against her….
The Ghost’s Tactical Setup:
- The Dig: In the off-season, dig a hole at least 2 to 3 feet deep right where you plan to plant your ladies next spring.
- The Layering: Fill the bottom with raw organic matter. I’m talking about chopped-up stalks from your last harvest, kitchen scraps (no meat or fat), and plenty of that deciduous leaf mold we talked about.
- The “Cap”: Cover the whole thing with at least 6 to 8 inches of native soil and a thick layer of forest “duff” (leaves and twigs). This “cap” keeps the spot looking natural in the off season.
- The Process: Over the winter, the worms and microbes will move in. They do the “turning” for you. By the time you’re ready to plant your cannabis seeds in the spring, that hole will be a soft, nutrient-dense “power growing pocket.”
Op-Sec Tip: Because you aren’t turning the pile, there’s no steam or visible activity. To anyone walking by, it just looks like the forest floor. Just be sure to mark your spot mentally (or just pound a natural looking stick in each planting spot)—never use bright flags or tape that would give you away.
Pro tip 2….Never leave garbage, nor any sign what-so-ever that you grew there…in the off season. ALWAYS leave every spot better then when you found it.
This method turns your grow site into a self-sustaining ecosystem. Feed the soil in the winter, and it will feed those giant cannabis plants in the summer.
