My Hugelkultur Cannabis Grow in the Simcoe Mountains Rocked It!

Growing Cannabis in the Foothills of the Simcoe Mountains in Central Washington

I decided to go ahead and try to impress with this years hugelkultur cannabis grow up at my off-grid property in the hills below the Simcoe Mountains. I am also going to be selling other herb seeds, and cuttings I grow there…so I named my property Stony Oasis Farms, and built the website for my farm.

So I dug the hugelkultur planting beds 4 feet deep…right down to bedrock in that country, filled them with bio char, wood debris, and topped them with some super soil I cooked up…you can read about all the amendments here…How to Grow 10lb Cannabis Plants Off-Grid: The 2026 Super Soil & Dryland Hugelkultur Guide

You can read all the articles I wrote on this grow here…Stony Oasis Farms 2026 Projects

Well I must say these plants really took off because of the richness of that soil…and they taught me a thing or two in the process…read about an old dog learning new tricks here…Never Too Old to Grow: Decades of Growing Cannabis, and Still Learning

This grow made me REALLY want to grow some 10 lb monster plants, and that is the plan for the 2027 cannabis garden…I am deciding if I want to make seed with these giants or not. Truthfully I would not know what to do with all the bud if I grow sensimilla….but we shall see.

So that is my plan….grow in the same kind of hugelkultur beds, but give the plants even more room, supply some support (they grow so fast they need it!) and hold back just a bit on the nitrogen, to prevent them from growing too fast, and so they will bloom in a timely manner.
