Grow Huge Cannabis Plants Using Only Super Soil: How Big Can They Get?

The cannabis plants growing at Stony Oasis Farms are getting huge!

Stony Oasis Farms Cannabis Plants Are Getting Really Big!

The 2026 Stony Oasis Farms cannabis grow is really impressing! I have grown alot of cannabis plants in my days as The Ghost. But I must say…these plants in their dryland hugelkultur super soil planting bed are not messing around! I must have mixed up some super soil they find hits the spot!

This is just a gentle breeze up in the foothills of the Simcoe Mountains in Central Washington. Sometimes they really get whipped around! In hindsight…growing plants this big, this fast up there with limited support was a mistake. I wanted to should how tough my genetics are, but these plants have just grown too fast in the super soil to develop strong enough stems to withstand the element up there.

Next year I am going to do the same kind of grow, but this time I will give the plants more room, and full support. In that grow I am going to go fully for size! My genetics love to get BIG!

I have a How Big can They Get…contest going on so make a guess and win some free seeds…and check out the seeds the winner gets! Be sure to read to the end of that post for all the contest details.

The 3 BadAss BB’s males I kept to do the deed are all in full bloom, and a bit before most of the ladies…which I think is good…as it will speed up some of the ladies strains. That way they can finish outdoors for you guys pretty much no matter where you live.

The Male Cannabis Plants Continue to Impress!

I am happy with the 3 males I decided to keep. They all are impressive for various reasons and they are all flowering profusely. There will be no female flower they will not touch…cannabis pollen is very, very, invasive.

Here are those 3 males…

That is not to take anything away from the females as they are growing well too…as you can see in the video above.

Watering Huge Cannabis Plants

Many folks have issues with watering cannabis plants…how much is enough, how much is too much?

Really watering plants is pretty straight forward, you water them as much as they need. And a good rule of thumb is the bigger the plant the more water it will want. I have been flood irrigating these plants since I planted them. Not for long when they were little, but now that they are huge…I let the water run for hours, I flood the hugelkultur bed all the way to the bottom nearly 4 feet down to bedrock.

Thing is a cannabis plants root system kinda mimics the visible growth you can see….if the soil they are in allows that. And, this dryland hugelkultur bed has about 2 feet of bio-char, logs, compost, and other woody debris in the bottom. The cannabis roots will find it easy to infiltrate that all the way down to bedrock…4 feet below.

And, this trip up I could see water stress…the plants wanted more then I gave them last trip up. So I made sure to water the bed deeply this time…and I will monitor their water needs next time.

So the bottom line with watering cannabis plants….you water them as much as they need without giving them too much. Actually being a bit thirsty is better then being water logged.

Conclusion

Do you have an outside grow going on? I would love to hear about it, and I would love to see some images! Please share in a comment.
