First Frost is Near Will the Cannabis Plants Finish?

With cannabis harvest time quickly approaching up at Stony Oasis Farms I am wondering if these plants will produce viable seeds. There are a few…the Black Tiger strain in particular that likley will run out of time.

Some of my strains, especially the landrace strains are pretty long winded, and the season up there in the mountains is short. This of course will change once I have built a walipini. But for now, I am not going to take time to try to cover these or any of that…whatever strains make viable seed, those will be the seeds I have.

Look at the purple of all of the BadAss BB’s males! The offspring of those plants will likley show some purple as well. I have always loved the purple plants.

Are the Plants Slow to Mature?

I think the answer to that is yes, these plants seem slow to mature. The reason? I am not sure but I think it has something to do with the richness of the super soil they are grown in…perhaps too much nitrogen.

Will they make viable seed? Likely not all of them will, although those first pre-flowers that form and get seeded might. And since all the plants are huge, I may get some good seed even from the slowest…time will tell.

Seeded cannabis flowers never attain the size of unseeded sincimillia…because the plant begins to put it’s resources into maturing the seed, rather then stacking on more flowers.

I am not sure just how many fully mature seed will be produced in this grow…I will be able to extend the season once up there…but when I am only there for a day here and there it is difficult to manipulate the plants as much as is needed. Time will tell.

Do Deer Eat Cannabis Plants?

Deer will munch on your cannabis plants possibly, but in my experience they do not eat much, and they defiantly do not like the buds. Thing is deer are wanting to put on some weight before winter, so will eat anything they like….even if it is not their favorite.

As the Ghost I have had alot of experience with animals eating on my cannabis plants. Here are a few stories…

I have had deer eat most of my cannabis plants I grew guerrilla once…that was in a very dry area, and my plants were of course well watered and thriving. Other then that I have had very little deer damage. Elk however are another story…I have had elk basically trim plants for me, they ate everything but the buds. That has happened a few times when growing way up in the mountains.

My nemesis as far as animals goes has always been mice! I have had mice kill all my seedlings, and I have had mice girdle plants that were 12 feet tall….killing them outright. I always set a few mouse traps in guerrilla grows.

My…How Tall Will They Get?…Contest

I have a contest going on right now in which you guess how tall the tallest plant in this grow will get. And, with over 50 guesses it has been popular. Well I am going to give a clue here.

I would have expected these plants to grow tall and fast. But, I have little experience with growing plants in either a hugelkultur bed, or super soil…as I have always been one to assess a plants needs and fertilize as I water.

These plants surprised me with how they bushed out…they spent alot of energy getting very bushy and large around, rather then shooting for the sky. I suppose the brutal winds up there may have had an affect as well.

They will not be getting much taller now, and I will get a good measurement when they are finally done.
