Creating Massive Growth in Cannabis Plants With Organic Super Soil

Can Cannabis Plants Grow Too Fast in Super Soil?
While creating massive growth in cannabis plants with the use of organic super soil…is there a downside?
Can cannabis plants actually grow too fast?
The short answer is YES, they actually can….Cannabis plants can actually grow too fast in rich organic super soil. When nitrogen and soil biology peak during early summer, the rapid vegetative stretch can outpace the plant’s internal cellular strength, leading to hollow, brittle stems that are vulnerable to snapping under heavy gusts or their own weight.
Honestly I did not foresee this massive growth of the cannabis plants could be a problem, and now need to adapt. Even though I have grown cannabis plants for over 50 years as the Ghost I have not used super soil much…as I have always opted to just feed my plants when I water them. This way I can assess their health and needs every time I water. Therein lies the only real problem I have with super soil…the plants deal with the soil, good or bad.
here are the plants on 7/31/26….and for reference the ‘T’ posts you see are about 5 feet tall.
Repairing Cannabis Plants Damaged by High Winds
In the video it is kinda hard to see, but this particular plant’s main stem broke in a wind gust. I repaired it somewhat with tape, and it broke again. This time I will just let it be…the plant will be a bit spread out, but will still grow and make lots of seeds…even if it is not the prettiest plant of the bunch.
My thought of not staking these plants to show how tough cannabis plants can be was a mistake…mostly because of how fast they are growing…in hind sight I should have given them some support. Funny, but with 50 years of growing cannabis…I am still learning…still having to adapt to what the plant shows me. Still working to make their lives as productive as they can be.
I have given the plants some support, mostly to stop the winds from laying them completely over on their sides. Four T Posts and some rope on the leeward side to prevent the wind from moving them too far in that direction. That with the waddle fence in the front will hopefully be all the support they need.
The Runt Cannabis Plant…Will it Make It?
The short answer is yes, not only will it make it, but she is becoming an impressive plant in her own right. She is a Black Tiger plant (whose seeds I have run out of!…I hate that!)
She is not longer the shortest plant of the 15, she has found a growth spurt as well, and is such a pretty plant! Here she is…
Conclusion
Cannabis even after all the years still impresses me with it’s resilience, and growth. Cannabis is a survivor, and if possible will find a way to procreate…this is always it’s mission in life.
If you have not yet…be sure to make a guess of just how tall the tallest plant in this grow will get…here is the link to the contest…which you will find at the end of this post…Mid-Summer Explosion: How the Hugelkultur Bed is Feeding My Cannabis Plants
